Below is a little bit of information on Scott and his past racing career.
Name: Scott Allen Messimer Hometown: Selinsgrove Born: March 10, 1982 Wife: Ashley, married on December 10, 2005 Children: Dylan (4) Occupation: Draftsperson at Crabtree Rohrbaugh & Associates in Mechanicsburg, Pa Racing Career: Scott got started racing towards the end of the year in 1999 running winged outlaw karts at Little Greenwood Raceway. In 2000, first full season running, Scott picked up his very first track championship at Little Greenwood Raceway with numerous victories there and at several other tracks. This earned him the nickname “Scottie Too Hottie,” compliments of track announcer Tom Hetrick. In 2001, Scott switched to Selinsgrove Raceway Park an finished 2nd in the championship race, still compiling numerous victories at several tracks. 2002 turned out to be his strongest year ever running karts compiling 17 victories and his second career championship coming from Selinsgrove Raceway Park. 2003 marked the first year of the Wing Kart Outlaw Series and just as Scott planned, he picked up yet another championship, making it 3 for his career. With the series only running 8 races, Scott was able to pick up 4 wins, but he didn’t lock up the championship until the last race where he posted his 4th series victory. In 2004, Scott didn’t have the success in the series like the previous year and still managed to come home 2nd in the chase for the title. Also that year, Scott joined up with Wes Hastings racing and built a custom mini micro. They had the opportunity to race 3 times and finished 1st, 2nd, and 4th. Wes also threw Scott into a seat of a 270cc micro sprint for the first time ever and decided to race with the regulars instead of the rookie class that night. Scott was running strong until he had some mechanical problems ending his night early. Scott has compiled over 60 wins in various go kart divisions in his career at many different tracks. His most memorable wins are winning the special shows at Port Royal Speedway all 4 years that he entered with speeds around 90 MPH, winning at the famous Silver Springs Speedway, two 50 lap races at Penns Creek Raceway, and winning a money race driving for his brother-in-law at Penns Creek in 2006. Scott still does race go karts from time to time and anything else that has four wheels and goes on dirt. Scott also was asked to drive a micro sprint for J.R. Mull at the end of 2007 for a special show at Selinsgrove Raceway Park, but failed to make the show. In 2005, Scott made his debut in a full size sprint car running the PA 305 Sprint Car Series. The series runs at several area tracks and Scott couldn’t wait to dip his feet into something with speed. Scott’s debut came at Port Royal Speedway where is first goal was to make the show and that he did. Scott had to work through the B-Main to get there, but he did it. He started 23rd and finished 15th. The most memorable moment of that night was when a fellow competitor moved into the side of Scott and caused Scott to pull a willy for 30 feet down the backstretch. Another memorable race that year came when he raced at Silver Springs Speedway. Scott started 15th in the feature and had worked his way up to 8th in 7 laps. Scott got loose and spun in turns 3 & 4 and was taken out of the race. A series official felt that Scott should start at the back the following week with Scott pleading his case, but they would have nothing of it. So, the following week was Hesston and Scott qualified for the feature, but they made him start 26th, dead last. Now one thing is for sure, Scott drives better when he is unhappy. Scott weaved his way through the 20 lap feature to post an 8th place finish. After the races, Scott went up to the official and asked him if he was going to make him start at the back again. Official gladly said no. Another memorable race that year was at Williams Grove Speedway. Scott started the feature in 15th and gradually worked his way to the front. But as luck would have it, Scott had to retire from the event after his motor blew going down the frontstretch taking 6th place. This ended Scott’s 305 season and career as the team raced in 10 shows with his best finish being 2nd. The team decided to move up to the 358 ranks where he could race weekly close to home at Selinsgrove Speedway, the fastest half mile on the east coast. In 2006, Scott made his debut in a 358 sprint car at Selinsgrove Speedway in May. Scott quickly learned that making the show at Selinsgrove is a feat in itself. Selinsgrove has the toughest competition around where at any given night, several drivers has the opportunity to win. Scott’s main goals on the year was to pick up seat time and learn to fine tune the car. Scott did have the opportunity to lead some laps that year and also picked up a consolation win. Scott got to race 14 times that year with one of those races being at Williams Grove. Scott’s best finish was a 10th and finished most of his races in the top 15. This past season brought some new goals, achieving all but one, getting that first win. Scott definitely had a shot at winning leading several laps throughout the year, but nothing comes close to the night at the end of the year. Scott had the car fairly close that night and was able to lead the first 14 laps of the 25 lap feature. Just as Scott began to pull away from the field, he clipped the inside fence in turns 1 & 2 and spun out. This image still runs wild through Scott as he knew that night should’ve been his, but wasn’t meant to be. Scott got to race 20 times this year, learning more about the car and earning the respect from his fellow competitors. Scott was able to pick up some heat wins and a consi win along the way. Scott’s best finish was a 6th and reeled in 5 top 10 finishes. This year had plenty of highs and lows. Running strong for two months was great, but then was followed up by two months of bad luck. Scott got tangled up in a few wrecks and even caught on fire. Scott was able to escape injury when he was trying to get out of his car to save a fellow competitor from his burning car. Both drivers were fine though, just were sent home with burnt cars and hurt pride. Scott is very optimistic about the 2008 season and feels that he can reach his goals this year. His main goal is to break into the winner’s circle and become consistent throughout the whole year to make a run at the championship. Scott’s goal is to be the first driver ever to win track titles at the big and small tracks at Selinsgrove Speedway. A few drivers have won on both tracks, but never won titles on both.
